Looking for a quick fix to relax? Only have a minute and want to do something that will have a noticeable effect? Try this sorta goofy trick for relaxation! Just maybe do it where no one else can see you if you're worried about how you look.
What is the tip? Alternate nostril breathing! (otherwise known as Nadi Shodhan)
This technique will relieve stress and tension, and may even lower blood pressure. Take a minute out of your day to give it a try!
Start by sitting up in a comfortable position. Use the thumb and pointer finger of the right hand to block one nostril at a time. Start by using your thumb to block the right nostril and inhale through the left nostril. Switch sides for the exhale, using the pointer finger to block the left nostril and release the thumb so the air exits through the right side. Now inhale through the right side and exhale through the left. That is one cycle. Repeat for 10 cycles or as long as feels comfortable.
To put it simply, use your fingers to block one side of your nose and breathe in. On the exhale breath out the other side of your nose. Repeat on the other side, and then keep going for more cycles.
